Lakeside Living & Balkan Trails | Ohrid, North Macedonia

We are an intentional roaming village for remote-working families with kids aged 4 to 12, strictly capped at 10 children per chapter. Instead of rigid desks or tests, our unschooling-inspired approach focuses on self-directed curiosity, open-ended arts and crafts, hands-on science experiments, and outdoor play. Kids gain an authentic cohort of friends while parents get reliable focus time to work.

Our Daily Rhythm

  • Mon–Thu (09:00–14:00): Screen-free morning workshops in our Kids Lab while parents focus from a nearby partner workspace.

  • Friday Tribe Days: Hosted community expeditions—from wooden boat crossings to the crystal springs of St. Naum to mountain trail hikes in Galičica National Park.

  • Evenings & Weekends: Promenade walks, lakeside sunset skips, parent masterminds, board game nights, and long shared dinners at traditional Balkan tavernas.

The Candid Reality

May brings lush greenery and comfortable pre-summer warmth, but Lake Ohrid is fed by underground mountain springs. the water is refreshing rather than tropical early in the month. The Old Town’s cliffside cobblestones are breathtaking but can be brutal on strollers, so we anchor our daily footprint in the flatter lakeside center. North Macedonia is outside the Schengen zone: cash (Macedonian Denar) is still preferred in small shops, and the local pace is unhurried. In exchange, you get incredible affordability, genuine hospitality, and an effortless reset for your 90-day visa clock.

Pack your walking shoes and sun hats, we’ll see you by the water. — Liraz & Mordi

Venue Details

  • The Kids Lab: A bright, comfortable, and self-contained workshop space equipped with ample natural light, on-site restrooms, and dedicated tables designed for messy hands-on projects, nature study, and creative building.

  • The Walkable Village Radius: We deliberately anchor our chapter in a safe, flat, pedestrian-friendly zone along Ohrid’s lakeside promenade and central core. The Kids Lab, recommended family apartments, and adult coworking spaces are set up within walking distance of each other, avoiding the steep hill climbs of the upper fortress. Inexpensive local taxis and boat shuttles are widely available if needed.

  • Partner Coworking Base: A dedicated, quiet workspace located within walking distance of the Kids Lab, featuring high-speed fiber internet, ergonomic desk seating, and private call rooms for uninterrupted focus during morning workshop hours.

  • Neighborhood Conveniences: Daily essentials like bakeries (fresh morning burek), open-air produce markets, lakeside cafes, and pharmacies are woven directly into the immediate walking zone, making daily errands easy on foot.
