I am a cultural anthropologist and educator with a PhD in Cultural Studies, a university lecturer and a worldschooling parent with a long-standing interest in alternative education and experiential learning. As an educator and a parent, I am a strong believer in our interconnectedness across the globe and in approaching different cultures and societies with sensitivity, curiosity and an open heart. I also believe in the need for a radical rethinking of education and in restoring freedom to childhood and learning. I support approaches to education that respect the personality and sovereignty of the child, their own rhythm, interests and curiosity, and give young people space to ask their own questions, exchange ideas and develop confidence in their own ways of thinking.

I created Curious Horizon as a place for learning experiences for young people that bring together travel, culture, observation, discussion and inquiry. The programs I develop aim to create space for teens to discuss and think together, notice, question, connect ideas and develop their own ways of seeing, thinking and learning. Curious Horizon brings these different threads together through place-based learning journeys that use culture, history and everyday life as starting points for inquiry, conversation and discovery.

The first Curious Horizon learning journey is taking shape in Tuscany, inspired by the Renaissance and by Leonardo da Vinci’s extraordinary curiosity and way of connecting different fields of knowledge.
