Meet the Team

We are a New Zealand family for four and two blue healer dogs and two cats. We have been immersed in Nicaragua for over a year and are permanently living here on site.  My Teenagers 15, 16 are schooled with The Socratic Experience online school. We have great Wi-Fi. And we do a mix of project based learning and travelling immersion experiences.

Todd has had a landscaping business in NZ where he’s gained practical building, mechanical skills and natural NZ plant knowledge skills.  Flora has been a preschool teacher,  project manager and health funding coach and now coaches parents with family/ child astrology charts to understand their purpose in life. There family has hosted youth working experiences on their land in Christchurch, South Island. We are restored our villa in New Zealand love architecture of the world. Both Flora and Todd are world travelers have a good grasp on Spanish language. We have close friendship with our Nicaraguan neighbors,  their culture and local school.

Venue Details

This venue is very special. This is a one of a kind building complex, and we want to share this with visitors that understand cultural architecture and special sites. The property was one of the first in Quizala and a bought by a wealthy Nicaraguan family in the early 90s and built in stages for their beach vacations from the city. We are second owners and feel privileged. It has very unique large circular octagon rancho. This is the main lounge and hang out space, where you can hammock and relax away with a book. We have extended the kitchen to have a great food preparation station to learn to cook local cuisine and pizzas from our pizza oven. There is an amazing pool with shark sculpture and surrounded by coconuts which keeps the pool cool and outdoor showers. The property was planted with about 30 coconuts palms and we drink from them every day, and can teach you how pluck and cut up your own. There is four casas for accommodation all which have been repaired and restored to their original condition . All the rooms/ casas have a bathrooms and wardrobes. There is beautiful gardens in the enclosed six foot high wall, with ten steps to the beach so you see the boat life and local fishermen. Quizala is a semi contained private beach and most of the residents living here are caretakers of holiday houses.

We are located 1.5 hours from Managua city, which is on a lake and very chaotic. Quizala is a rear Jem and quiet setting with no traffic and only one small shop and village church.  We are surrounded by sugar cane plantations and the pacific ocean. The local town of San Rafael del Sur is up the hill and serves many communities.

The surf in Nicaragua is world renowned for fantastic waves and many locations to suit the beginner to the expert. Our beach is 17 km long we drive up to the local resorts on it. Its the perfect beach for sand castle competitions and kite flying, beach volleyball and bonfires. Turtles inhabit our beach in the October – November months and we have a buy and release program started.  We also have prehistorical cave sites up the road that has significance to the precolonial inhabitance. The largest nature reserve in central america is a short drive away, has many unique plant life.

14 days out full deposit returned. 7 days out 50% returned. 36 hours no return deposit and full payment of camp fees.

What's Included

Collection from the airport, transportation, accommodation, breakfast, lunch most dinners, snacks and depending on the camp; other meals, including make your own pizza nights and lunch out at local restaurant. Entry into the sites and excursions, horse riding, boats ride Spanish and Socratic immersion Lessons.
