L'Atelier Cottonwood - Modern Luxury Farm Life in Dallas
L’ATELIER COTTONWOOD · DALLAS, TEXAS
OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Forest school is not simply time spent outdoors. It is an approach that treats the natural world as a
living classroom—one that cultivates curiosity, confidence, resilience, responsible risk-taking, and
respect for the environment.
MORE THAN PLAY-BASED
Play remains an essential language of early childhood, but it is only one part of our approach.
Educators deliberately extend discoveries into investigation, experimentation, conversation,
reflection, and purposeful work. A found leaf may lead to botanical classification; a garden harvest
may become measurement, storytelling, and practical mathematics.
MORE THAN LITERACY-FOCUSED
Early literacy and numeracy are intentionally woven throughout the week, without reducing learning
to worksheets or rote exercises. Children encounter rich vocabulary, storytelling, phonological
awareness, early writing, mathematical reasoning, science, art, geography, and cultural studies
through developmentally appropriate, hands-on experiences.
THREE LANGUAGES, ONE LEARNING COMMUNITY
English, French, and Spanish are integrated through authentic interaction, songs, literature, daily
routines, and guided exploration. The goal is meaningful exposure and growing confidence—not a
promise of fluency in a single semester.
WHAT CHILDREN PRACTICE EVERY DAY
Observation and questioning · Independence and self-care · Collaboration and kindness · Fine and gross
motor skills · Creative expression · Problem-solving · Care for living things
Our exceptionally small 4:1 ratio allows educators to notice each child, adapt the level of challenge, and
support genuine intellectual and personal growth
Meet the Team
EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Founder & Program Director
Rooted in three generations of educators, L’Atelier Cottonwood draws inspiration from a family tradition of language education and early childhood learning in Europe.
Our founder brings an interdisciplinary perspective shaped by scientific research, international experience, and a commitment to intellectually rich, hands-on education.
OUR EDUCATORS
Our educational team brings together complementary strengths in language immersion, early academic foundations, creative exploration, and outdoor learning.
Rather than separating academic instruction from practical discovery, our educators guide children through meaningful experiences that connect knowledge with the world around them.
SPECIALTY EDUCATORS & GUEST INSTRUCTORS
Every four weeks, children are introduced to a new elective, with one dedicated session each week.
These rotating experiences may include dance, soccer, martial arts, and other disciplines led by educators or instructors with relevant expertise.
Venue Details
Nestled in the heart of Lake Highlands, Dallas, L’Atelier Cottonwood welcomes children into an intimate, nature-rich environment designed to inspire curiosity, independence, and meaningful discovery.
Set on approximately three-quarters of an acre of private property, our Worldschool Hub offers a distinctive alternative to traditional classroom settings, where indoor learning spaces flow naturally into gardens, outdoor exploration, and hands-on experiences.
Our learning environment includes:
- Indoor Learning Atelier: Dedicated spaces for literacy, mathematics, scientific inquiry, creative arts, and trilingual learning.
- Gardens & Growing Spaces: Opportunities to explore botany, seasonal planting, harvesting, and sustainable practices.
- Animal Care & Farming: Weekly experiences caring for our resident chickens, learning responsibility, and understanding the needs of living things.
- Cottonwood Creek: A natural setting for supervised environmental exploration, observation, and ecological studies.
- Outdoor Discovery Areas: Open spaces for movement, imaginative exploration, physical development, and forest school activities.
A Private Setting. An International Perspective.
Our intimate environment supports an exceptional 4:1 child-to-educator ratio, allowing children to experience the freedom of outdoor learning alongside the structure and academic depth of a thoughtfully designed educational program.
Rooted in nature. Guided by knowledge. Inspired by the world.
