El Lucero – Waldorf Kindergarten, Tenerife
El Lucero is a small Waldorf kindergarten (ages 3–6) with a primary learning group (ages 6–12) in El Portezuelo, in the green hills of north Tenerife, 10 minutes from the old university town of La Laguna, 10 minutes from the nearest airport (TFN) and 60 minutes to the second airport (TFS).
Our approach: children learn by doing, feeling and thinking, in a calm daily rhythm and a year carried by its festivals. Kindergarten children play outdoors under the trees and in our yurt, paint with watercolours, sing and celebrate the lantern walk and Advent. An organic local breakfast is included every day.
Visiting families: kindergarten guests are welcome from four weeks, for a month, the whole season from November to April, or a full year. For the primary group we prefer longer stays, ideally a full trimester, because language matters more at that age. The day runs 8:30–14:00, with optional care from 8:00 to 15:00. The group’s language is Spanish, and small children usually pick it up through play and songs.
Arriving: we help with accommodation tips, car-sharing with other families, and local knowledge, from doctors to beaches.
Meet the Team
We are not a company. El Lucero is an association run by its families together with our teachers. Our families come from the Canary Islands and mainland Spain, Germany, Poland, Greece, the Netherlands, Hungary and other countries. Parents help with festivals, in the garden and around the house, and visiting families are warmly invited to join in.
Cancellation Policy
We require a small nominal deposit of €100, which will be refunded if the trip is cancelled 30 days before the planned start. No refund funds within 30 days.
