Linda has over seven years of experience living and working in Oaxaca, Mexico. With advanced degrees in Sociology and Linguistics from Australia, Linda combines her expertise in education with her deep understanding of local culture. She has worked as an English instructor and curriculum developer across various educational settings, creating inclusive and engaging learning environments for all ages.
Lizbet Rosario Baños (Hub Associate)
Lizbet brings a wealth of experience as an educator and cultural liaison. A certified preschool teacher originally from Oaxaca, she spent over a decade in San Francisco working with diverse communities before returning to her hometown. Currently teaching English at Maple Academy, Lizbet’s cross-cultural perspective and passion for creative education make her an integral part of the team.
Venue Details
The Oaxaca hub is located in a welcoming, family-oriented space that blends indoor and outdoor areas for learning, play, and relaxation. The venue is situated near the heart of Oaxaca City, offering easy access to historical landmarks, vibrant markets, and cultural attractions. With dedicated areas for workshops and reflection, the hub is designed to provide a balance of activity and downtime, ensuring a supportive environment for children and families alike.
Cancellation Policy
During Enrollment Period:
- Cancel within 48 hours for a full refund.
- From 48 hours to 120 days before the start date: 50% refund (minus $500 deposit).
- Within 120 days of the start date: No refund.
Full Refund Exceptions (Before the Hub Begins):
- Closure of borders or unsafe conditions.
- Cancellation of the program by Deliberate Detour.
No Refunds (After the Hub Begins):
- Withdrawal or early departure for any reason.
- Dismissal due to behavioral or other challenges.
What's Included
Four days per week of programming (5 hours per day), activities include hands-on workshops, history talks, and team building games, morning snacks, vegetarian lunches inspired by local cuisine, and local fruit provided daily, transportation for activities, all materials and supplies, services of two bilingual, highly-qualified hub staff members and skilled local instructors, and contribution to a selected NGO/non-profit.
